I want magnification for anything much over 100yd. Range really depends on your eyes and marksmanship abilities. I haven't shot the MRO, but I think it would be hard to beat an Aimpoint T2. I run one on a pistol, and it's a decent site. RMR or MRO? I wouldn't put an RMR on an AR as a primary optic. I'm not sure if I could pick out a target that's 200 yards away without magnification. Competitors that require speed prefer bigger dots like 6, 6.5 or even a very large 8 MOA dot. What range could you realistically expect to effectively use a red dot on an AR15 without magnification? That might help me with the decision. Still allowing rapid target acquisition in self-defense range, a 3 MOA red dot with an adjustable brightness feature will aid in accuracy when shooting out farther because smaller dots appear larger on brighter settings. Would that be worth it over the Aimpoint? Now on to this optic: PROS:-Waterproof with sealing plate.-Manual brightness adjust. If I could I would equip every operator/officer/solider who carries a sidearm with this on a custom-cut slide pistol. With practice you can be both fast and accurate with this.
If this is your only AR, I'd spend a little extra for an Aimpoint. The 3.25 MOA dot allows you to be more accurate.
